RUN #2 (Best): You can't shoot a .30 Special snubby under stress accurately, right? Well maybe you can. Running a little double action-only snub nose revolver in the Trench Warfare Drill is tough and the course is best served with a full-sized handgun. Targets range from 7 to 25 yards and all are engaged after running, with one stage being done off-hand. But the TW challenge is fun and will add to your skill level with these hard-shoot-well little revolvers. The LCR is an outstanding design and after 100s rounds shot through it, I am a fan. Your watching my favorite model in action, the LCR Model 5401 at 13.5 ounces. I do not prefer the .357 Model 5450 since It weighs 4 ounces more, is more costly, and +P .38 Specials in this lightweight form factor are enough for my needs. This is my 2nd run in the Trench (re-located higher on the dirt road since trench was mud-filled) and it comes together well. My revolver reloads are faster now (HKS Speedloaders used) since I've abandoned trying to put the loader in a dump pouch during the run (which would help keep clean for reliability in the desert with multiple runs) and use the strong hand for loader manipulation. I find the Ruger LCR trigger excellent and easy to manage. I stage it as discussed to achieve the hits shown, especially the very challenging 20 and 25 yard mini-torso plates (from actiontarget.com). The Hogue grips are also outstanding and provide excellent control and after I painted the front sight fluorescent orange, it gives an excellent, fast picture. At one point I slap the cylinder to ensure closure and of course every run/encounter will have hang ups you will have to work through (like dumped rounds)...that's all pretty standard in my pressured shooting drills unless you're real lucky. Time was 168 Seconds and 6 misses (4 Misses after fastest run bonus though). ////////// Music licensed from Jaspertine

  • nutnfancy needs a future weapons style tv show, except doing reviews on all sorts of guns and gear, and no rasping like Mac. Mac still rocks though

  • @maxrocks19 Thanks for the thoughts. I do address some of this in my recent video "Questions to Nutnfancy Pt1 Mar 2011."

  • I must say, this is very impressive. I struggle to shoot my LCR .38 accurately. You have shown me that it can be done. As always, great video.

  • @czglrembenrug Thank you. It is all the fundamentals: concentrating on maintaining sight picture while consistently pressing the trigger. Much easier said than done, especially under stress. But the gun is capable if you are!

  • When do you expect the review to out?

    Keep up the Great videos

  • @ridenhour1 Very soon my friend. That's why I'm in the comments tonight: to see if TNPrs have particular questions or data points I want to include. Thanks.
