You Should Have Lied [7]

She brought her knees to her chest and leaned into me. Silent tears turned into full blown sobs, and at that point, I didn't know what to do. I had seen Allie cry twice our entire friendship. Once when she talked about her dog who had died, and once the first time we left for a tour. It was still nothing like this.

She sat up, and wiped her eyes with the back of her hands. She silently pushed up the left side of her shorts to show me the eight different one inch scars scattered across her thigh. "Remember these?" She asked weakly.

"Yeah." I smiled softly at the story I'd heard so many times. "Fourth of July. You tripped over the fence at the park when you were joking around with Mike and landed on glass, right?"
She shook her head. "Pocket knife."
My smiled faded, and I was confused. She turned her left arm to show me the circular scar. "What about this one?" She asked again.
"You, you ran into a trailer playing hide and go seek. There was something sticking out of the side and.."
"No." She said. "That's a cigarette burn."

She pointed up to the thin scar next to her left eye.

My voice was considerably softer than it was when the conversation had started. "Your first high school varsity soccer game. You dove into the goal post."
She interlocked her hands with mine. "That's from a class ring."

My phone vibrated again. I ignored it.

I was getting frusterated. I mean Allie knew every single little thing that happened to me. She knew every single thing that happened to me. Including when my best friend beat me up. Mike was my best friend. We knew eachother since we were babies, even before I knew Allie. Well one day when I was leaving school, I was only in second grade at the time, Mike ran outside and just pushed me off of the bicycle rack I was sitting on waiting fo him and Allie. In the process, One of the bikes cut against the side of my hip, giving it a deep gash. Right after he pushed me, He layed down on my and just started beating the life out of me. He kept throwing punches yelling things like I hate you and you girlfriend stealer. I didn't understand why he was doing this, but I was too much in shock to even get him off of me. Then Allie came.
She ran over and pushed mike off of me, but he just got right back up and went right back to what he was doing before. Allie had enough and she pushed mike off and started beating down on him, next thing I knew, Kevin and Bailey were running over from the middle school and picked me up. I was just a little kid, I had no idea what had just happened. Bailey called Mike's mom, while I cried like a little girl. My nose was bleedng and so was my hip. It was not a pretty seen. Allie grabbed my ahdn and just held it until Allie's mom came to get us. My mom was already waiting at their house. It was just a full line of chaos. It didn't get better until Allie brought me the last sucker she had from easter. I guess after I left,Allie and Mike became friends again, but one thing was for sure. Mike and I had not talked since. The whole thing was over a girl he thought i was trying to steal by the name of Evelyn. I lifted up the side of my shirt and looked at that scar from so long ago. Allie looked at it and ran her inger along it. She did that ever since the stitches a month after everything had happened

My mind was racing a million miles a minute, but I still wasn't understanding. Allie wiped her eyes again and took a deep breath still with her hand on my side.

"Nick, the whole time you were away on tour last summer..." She looked at the ground. "Mike.... a- and my dad abused me."
