My best friend, and love of my high school years, tried committing suicide a few times. All were close calls, and it was scary and hard on everyone. I'm just thankful that I wasn't the only one there for him in the end, thanks to people like DFTBA. I am really glad he said the statement, "It's not about taking the problems on for yourself" because it is just a crushing responsibility and ends up just hurting in the end. And yes, trust your instincts!!

I wish I could have been stronger when my friend became an alcoholic, but she kept taking things out on me and I couldn't take it. We were best friends since we were 12... OK, that's enough
