Refugees International is honored to present Amina Ali with the inaugural Richard C. Holbrooke Leadership Award in acknowledgement of a lifetime of remarkable humanitarian work.
Throughout her career working in Kenyan public and private sectors, she has displayed her passion and commitment to protecting the rights of vulnerable members of the community, including refugees and asylum seekers.
Sadly, Amina passed away in early May 2011 after battling cancer. She exemplified the tireless efforts and spirit of a true humanitarian.
As the government conducts the "mother of all swoops", we should be careful not to destroy the very fabric that holds us together. There are many Aminas and we should treat them well. Long live united Kenya!

May Allah help us have big heart like the one she had and May Allah Rest her Soul In Janatul Firdaus

May Allah give her ease in her grave, and make it wide and spacious. May He also give her a high place in Jannah, out of His mercy and kindness.
