Okara Max is argubly the best working kelpie that has been imported to the UK! As a favour to a friend Max was purchased from Michael Johnston's Milburn Stud, Australia.
Max has had a great input towards improving the breeding in the country and is available at limited stud!
Please note that Max would only need to back sheep up a race once for filling, this is being repeated for demonstration purposes! Contact www.lyndhurst-kelpies.co.uk

  • Hi, North country mule (Blue faced Leicester ram X Swaledale ewe)

  • Thanks for your comments! I have a friend who lives near Cowra that is sending another dog and bitch of Max's quality early 2011, he keeps me upto date with the sales, trials etc, would be good to come over though! Maybe one day!

  • Max is great!!!! The pommie needs work on his commands but, "push up" come on.... "PUSH PUSH PUSH PUSH!!!!" Max is keeping them all in tact, but that's it, he's not getting the sufficient encouragement to PUSH PUSH PUSH!

  • Hi, thanks for that! You may not be able to see in the video but the mobile Prattley yard goes from double to single file, If Max is encouraged to push harder the sheep will stall at this point and not be able to move! That is why he is working like he is!

  • Good stuff, I just picked up a few new Kelpies from Murringo yesterday. Do you train them yourself?

  • Hi, Thanks for that! I train all of my dogs, but the dog(Okara Max) in the video was a trained import from Michael Johnstons Milburn Stud.

  • Wow that was great fun to watch! Love seeing dogs showing off their breed instincts. Love when the one tried to sneak around and Max cut him off, lol. I can tell he is very happy doing his job. :)

  • I would be interested to see him competeing against the best border collies in England on the trial ground......and beating them! Not many Kelpies could say they have done that. Good all round farm dog though.

  • Fascinating to watch Max's skill! It looked like he took some kicks there. Not a cushy dog job, for sure. Brilliant!

  • love thses dogs! what breed ofsheep is that?

  • Wow. This is Working Kelpie. Strong and intense, full of speed:))

  • @foxforce12001 I have one Border Collie as well! Except he is a wheaten colour and I also have one Kelpie except he is a red and tan colour though... The Kelpie is called Malcolm and the Border Collie is called Simbah (because he looks like a Lion). Simbah came from Kendell and Malcolm came from Dubbo. They are both Aussies... LIKE ME!

  • I am from Australia and there are LOTS of Kelpie's here. I even have one as a pet!

  • Hello, I have two dogs, one cat, and one mouse. My cats name is Cookie (girl), my mouse' name is Coco (boy) and I have two dogs, Simbah (a wheaten border collie) and Malcolm (a red and tan kelpie). They are both boys. I should post a video of them on YouTube! :-)
