But what of the gray areas that bible ain't so clear on? For example, assisted suicide for the elderly? Where's a commandment on that? And what of something like child neglect due to being busy with three jobs to be able to pay rent and feed the child?
To me, it's the gray areas that are hard to understand, esp. when using the bible which talk so absolutely in black and white.
I'm not trying to burst your bubble, but just giving u some food for thought.
You can not burst my bubble because I trust in God, and God cannot fail, which is, in fact, the answer to your question, as it is written, "The just shall live by faith." What the Bible does not mention as sin or something wrong, I believe should be considered acceptable. If the Bible does not condemn it, I do not believe that it ought to be condemned. But study your Bible before you assume the answer is not there. Assisted suicide is just murder.
I'm pretty sure assisted suicide is not specified anywhere in the bible. Maybe I'm wrong but in my readings, I've never come across anything close to that topic, among many other topics. I mean, substance use (e.g. lsd, heroin, meth, cocaine) is never discussed in the bible either.
It probably shouldn't matter too much in terms of the Christian faith though because situations like assisted suicide don't happen frequently, and if counted as sin, Jesus is always there to forgive, right?
Well then you haven't read II Samuel 1:9-16. Assisted suicide, even by United States Law, is considered homicide. If you attempt it here in America, and are caught, you will be charged with homicide. Read the passage I just gave you. Jesus does forgive, but he also judges sin. Fear him, because he ought to be feared.
Wrong, it does not say he killed himself, it says he fell upon his sword. Use common sense, if he was still alive to tell the amalekite to kill him, obviously he did not kill himself. You said that assisted suicide is not specified anywhere in the Bible therefore I quoted that passage to show you that is not correct. The fact that it is against the law to assist in suicide must be taken into consideration because the Bible also says to obey the powers that be. Study your Bible. God bless.

I haven't read that passage in that light I guess. The passage is still hard to apply however because of a few things:
(1)punishment was from David, not from God himself
(2)I Samuel 31:4 says Saul killed himself so it wasn't assisted suicide but actual suicide
(3) David's issue is with the amalekite having killed Lord's anointed, not necessarily the act of assisted suicide
And good point about U.S law, but if morality was determined by governmental law, then racism and sexism would be right.
