  • that womans voice at the end lulls me to sleep i love it

  • @SouthernKudzu "Last year Georgia spent more than $2 billion on transportation, but... less than 1% went specifically to pedestrian safety."

So, are you also upset that so many tax dollars are being spent on the highways that enable you to drive 105 miles to and from work?

Don't blame the victims. People live on Buford Highway because there is affordable housing and access to jobs. It's a sin to let them face such danger just trying to get to work.

  • SouthernKudzu - Could you explain what you mean by "It's only up to me to correct it"?

  • show them your foot

  • So....Do they feel they have a RIGHT to easy access to work? I have to drive 105 miles a day to/from work thru Atlanta. Very dangerous drive if you ask me, but I don't complain. It's only up to me to crrect it. Sorry, but I'm tired of people demanding that their lives be made easier using other peoples tax dollars. Money that is taken out of my check at gun point.

  • easy to fix... they do this in mexico, a pedestrian bridge! or just put a pedestrian crossing button activated light!

  • Buford Highway has so much transit usage that it may be the only corridor in Atlanta that supports a privately run transit bus line.

This high Transit and Pedestrian use reduces cost burdens to county governments and the environment. If the rest of Atlanta could transit/ped use at like this Atlanta wouldn't need a new transportation tax and lexus lanes.

How do we award those using transit and foot more than anywhere else? By continuing to not supply something as simple as sidewalks.

  • Yup a broken system, tnearby on the richer Peachtree Road a sidewalk project on Peachtree is being planned by DeKalb County is to put in "sidewalks, streetlights

The Sidewalk is in an area that is very sparsely populated portion of Peacthree with light foot traffic.

Come on Georgia DOT, Governor and Legislators time to change antiquated funding restrictions and allow this corridor to have minimal amenities for ALL that use it, not just cars!

  • im from NJ, my ass looks both ways before crossing a street even when i do not hear or feel a car coming

  • It's a half-mile to the crosswalk and another half-mile back on the other side.

They need Belisha beacons and lighted crosswalks as a minimum. I can't speak for GA but in PA the crosswalks are inconsistent in design and half the time so dark at night that I'm lucky if I can see the crosswalk, let alone pedestrians on it. The traffic engineering in the US is sorely lacking. They need to import some Germans!
