When you start a new activity whether it's physical or otherwise it can be discouraging to suck in the beginning. Especially when you've been doing a related activity and you expect to be much better than you turn out to be. I am going through this with calisthenics right now. It's suddenly like I'm a n00b all over again. Instead of being discouraged, I'm going at it full force, learning a lot and already seeing progress.

So my message is don't be afraid to be a n00b, don't be afraid to suck at the beginning of anything. Embrace the experience and enjoy progressing and enjoy learning
