@TelevisionLamb right click the box and go to object properties and turn on backface culling

Thank you sir, I appreciate the info.I don't know if this is true, but someone told me to use the dummy scene file for scale when building rooms. they said the avatar file will work if you are using the right 1. Thanks again for the reply . Don't worry too much about the negative comments you get, they are just fustrated. If I could ask one favor, I personally don't know max as well as you do, so if you could call out things like short cuts as you're doing them, it would be a great help. thanks.

@Alphawolfdigital for a good list of shortcuts look for the hotkeymap.swf in your 3ds max installation folder (usually C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max\) then you can hover over different parts of the keyboard image and it tells you what keys and combination of keys do.
