How are your shitake logs doing these days? Also, have you found a process that works well inside for the oysters in your basement or garage? I am planing on starting a small operation here in missouri!

Interesting. If it'll work for you I'll try it too.

If you do not have access to rain water you can use tap water that has been sitting for 24-48 hrs to let the Chlorine oxidise. Otherwise you will kill the mycelium.

Well, I got a few mushrooms from this kit... They really started to flush once the conditions were right for me to bring them outside. The only problem then was bugs. I will most likely not try this method again (I also bought an indoor shiitake kit that only produced about a half dozen shrooms)
Now I'm more concerned with log cultivation. My brother and I have about 30 shiitake logs (3 foot length) and several oysters, and we'll be doing it again this Spring. I will post a video at that time
