EXCERPTS FROM THE NEWS:

...the sergeant's ex-wife tells us their divorce was finalized just two weeks ago...

Sgt. Chris Jones, the son of former City Councilman E.C. Jones has been charged with Second Degree Murder and Attempted Second Degree Murder. Investigators say Jones shot and killed 42 year-old Donald Munsey, the Karaoke D.J. at the "Wind Jammer" Bar and Restaurant in East Memphis. Investigators also say Jones shot a 22 year-old man in the "Wind Jammer."

Donald Munsey went from disc jockey to what friends and family call a "hero," losing his life while fighting to save a friend.

"He is a hero. He died protecting a friend, but it cost him his own life," said Wind Jammer club operator Joe Reynolds, angry that the man who shot his close friend and employee was charged with only second-degree murder.

"He told me he was going to do it two or three times before he did it," Reynolds said of Shelby County Sheriff's Sgt. Chris M. Jones...
