Elton John Plays, Wins Tennis Match in Washington!!

Smash Hits, Elton John's annual charity tennis tournament, takes place Monday, November 15th, at American University in Washington, D.C. It's the first time the event is taking place in that city, and it was chosen because it has the highest rate of HIV infection in the U.S. All proceeds from the tournament go to the Washington AIDS Partnership. In the 17 years that Elton has been doing Smash Hits, the tournament has raised close to 10 million dollars for AIDS research and awareness.

The event will kick off with Elton John and Martina Navratilova facing off against Steffi Graff and Andre Agassi. Then, Elton will captain a team of star players, including Agassi, Graf, Anna Kournikova and Jan-Michael Gambill, who'll play against a team captained by his good friend Billie Jean King. Her team includes Navratilova, Mark Phillippoussis, Mark Knowles and Rennae Stubbs. The competition will include men's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles.
