Static: Recall

Static's flighted recall has finally gotten pretty strong. When I find her aviator harness I'd like to start practicing this with her wearing it, so we could eventually try some outdoor recalls. Teaching Static flighted recall is both for my convenience (I hate getting her down from up there), and a safety thing (in case she ever gets loose).

how do you train her? i would like to do it with my bird.

I believe with Static I simpy captured the behavior when she happened to fly to me and rewarded her for it. Another possible training plan, though, is to reward the bird for approaching your hand, then stepping up onto it, then increasing the distance your bird has to reach to step up onto your hand until it's jumping, and finally flying to you.

that was really cute.

i can't wait for my boy to grow his feathers back, i clipped him to make training easier (after he learnt how to fly). now i miss having him fluttering around the house and causing havoc.
