Sorry for my english, I'm italian. After listening this 3 times in a row, I felt a unusual heartbeat and was worry about that. Went down from my flat to first floor looking for the doctor, he saw me for a while and finally asked: "Have you fallen in love with someone?".

Viva la voce di Pavarotti! (long live Pavarotti'd voice!! I am so glad that he and Puccini once lived. I have always believed that God's voice is magnified though the classics in general....

I am not a musical person or an opera buff by any means, so i am uncluttered by all the tecnique stuff everyone else is encumberred by. I can merely adore this genre. I could pick out the flat or off key and do appreciate the different type of tenors. The Three Tenors are beach so different but love them all! The hard work and devotion is astounding and the results are heaven sent to an ordinary mortal as I. I am able to indulge myself to a piece of heaven, when i want, or indeed, need!

    "he could sing"

i, probably even opera stars, would not use that phrase to describe pavarotti, that is clearly downplaying the, probably, the best tenor of all times

We agree to disagree. The sheer emotion alone in Carreras' Rodolfo is superior. I agree with Domingo that that audience genuinely needs to believe the character that the performer is undertaking. Carreras' and Domingo's acting is FAR superior to Pavarotti's. Carreras' Rodolfo and Don Jose is splendid. Domingo's Othello is marvelous. Pavarotti's acting s laughable at times. However, he could sing, no doubt.

definitely not. just by the quality of tone, pavarotti is far above caruso. by technique carreras isn't in the same page as pavarotti, all this not to say that carreras isn't a good singer.

Caruso sang it transposed down for Puccini himself.
