I'm a Canadian living in Utah and the kids at my high school try to be funny by making fun of me by chanting usa or america but we Canadians beated the soviets in hockey more than those american players on that 1980 u.s. hockey. Let's just say that america is whorehouse where the revolutionary ideals of their forefathers are corrupted and sold in alleys by vendors of capitalism.

@TheTzdope Which is completely irrelevant on what happened back in 72. The Canadian players physcially fought against soviet troops with machine guns while in the soviet union to get Eagelson away from them. That transcends athletic courage and would be described as war heroics

@Gyro911 eagleson was indicted on fraud charges a few years ago and guys like esposito and orr hate him today. my point was that if they knew then what they know now, things would of been different in 1972 moscow!!

@pompei1968 HItler fialed to do so since the soviets out toughed him. THe german's could'nt match the soviets will to fight which is ironic since Canada played with that approach here out out willed the russians.

@TheTzdope Who cares the fact that they did protect Eagelson in the USSR against soviet soilders with Machine guns showed how fearless and patriotic they were. That's an academy award hollywood script right there if it was an american team doing it

I'm american but i hold a lot of respect for the Canadian hockey team's gutsy tough intimidating playing that they imposed on the soviet hockey team while doing it in the USSR during the height of the cold war. An american team has never done the equivalent of that unless you consider Rocky IV to be a real sporting event with Sylvestor Stallone going into Moscow to KO Ivan Drago.

I don`t think these guys how much this series meant to Canadian hockey, the future of Canadian hockey could have been a lot different if we didn`t win.
