  • it's actually the wheel with least resistence that would spin in a car with no LSD....during cornering this is the inside wheel...

  • I've got one for my 335I. It's f***** kick a** also I put new software + kit hatge= 432 HP :)

  • @strathpol its modding you have to put in a chip to the computer itself to unlock the psi changer. so your paying 250$ for that chip which is practically modding. anything adding to the car = modding. if you want to get technical.

  • The new performance audis have this feature I believe.

  • ASC works by braking the wheel thats lost traction and cutting power by altering timing.Brakepad wear can be really high. A lsd helps by always powering the wheel with traction so the asc has less work to do. But the new electronic diff increases power to the wheel with traction. Going around a corner it shifts more torque to the outside wheel to push you around the corner, instead of cutting power to the inside wheel. It has a similar effect of keeping the car on track without slowing it.

  • An open diff will transfer power to the wheel with the least resistance. An open diff that can spin both wheels has some braking action involved - when the wheel with the least resistance is spinning, the car's electronics will recognize this and apply braking to that wheel. Once the proper amount of brake force is applied to this wheel, it will no longer be the wheel with the least resistance and power will transfer to the other wheel. This is what BMW refers to as an electronic LSD.

  • It's called tuning, not modding... ecu remap anyone?

  • Thanks, I'm going to post on my forum to see if some of the tech guys know what is actually in these cars.

  • That's ok. I'm going to go online and try to figure this out. If I find out anything I'll let you know. Take care :)

  • My apologies, I misunderstood what you were saying lol. I think this is the same technology the domestic automakers call the "locking diff" You and I both see the physics as an LSD, they claim its not. I know its not a true LSD as they lack certain LSD characteristics (they sometimes dont lock during certain turns, where an LSD normally would) But I guess automakers will say/do anything to make extra $ LOL

  • I know what ABS is... I'm a sales manager at a car dealership lol. I'm talking about an open diff that spins both wheels like my father's mercedes. Every time his wheels spin it's always both wheels & I can't understand why? I keep hearing about balance. In the Lexus IS350 it's called a semi LSD... It's still an open diff. Nobody seems to know why an open differential can spin both wheels at all times? Someone please let me know. Thanks.

  • ABS has nothing to do with the LSD. ABS is anti braking system, it just helps regulate braking. A limited slip diff allows power to be directed to both rear wheels instead of an open end diff where power is delivered to just one wheel. Certain LSDs also help regulate how much power is delivered to each wheel depending on driving conditions (a Helical LSD or HLSD)
