In Washington D.C growing up I remember that six string, laugh, cry, sing and yell, also moan!!! We need this now so much more... Pure, no sound enhancers or effects present!! Dig that!!! I miss him so very much !!!! Son of James Edward Span - Stephen Lavon Span.

I did not Grow up in H.O.G But I did grow up in a holiness church I do have plans on visiting a H.O.G. church In the Baltimore MD area I am so excited about the steel Guitar Tradition. This is one of my overseer favorite songs.

There's no other like him. I once asked him to show me how to play and he said to start with some rubber bands on a shoe box : )

I do thank you for posting this great man of God on Youtube he Blessed me so much when I go saved in the late 70s, we would Praise God so much, I woudl call him Daddy. He used to play in services that Prophet Brian Mosely had around the New York City area
Wow!!! I was almost in tears watching this video. I just spoke to his daughter; Tonya Nelson last week. Henry Nelson was a pioneer and a great influence on artist such as The Campbell Bros. as well as my man "cool Rob" Robert Randolph. I grew in the H.O.G. church...in his time, Nelson was indeed a modern-day David.

I wish you couldn've heard him too..... I was a child when I first heard him play. It was like Heaven on earth. He was sooooo smooth and the love he felt just oozed out of the guitar. He was one of a kind. I still miss him.
