St. Elizabeth of Hungary (Szent Erzsébet) had a short but eventful life.

Born in 1207, she was the daughter of Andrew II of Hungary. Erzsébet married, became a widow, retired to a life of poverty, and then died in 1231. She was just twenty-four years old.

This song tells the story of how and why she came to be canonised.

It was recorded in 1972 for what was to be Beau's third album for John Peel's Dandelion label. In the event, the label folded before the record could be released.

Backup musicians, as on Beau's "Creation" set from the previous year, are Jim Milne and Steve Clayton of Tractor / The Way We Live.

***STOP PRESS*** A full-frequency version of this song appears on the Edge Of The Dark CD (Angel Air SJPCD 293)
