One way to enjoy Finnish winter is to swim in a hole in the ice (outdoors, naturally). Air temperature was about -30ºC when this video was filmed in Siilinjarvi, Finland.

  • y is there steem coming out i tihnk its a hot spring

  • It is not steam, it's water vapor raising from about 0 celsius water. The vapor condenses in the about -30 celsius cold air. Here is a quotation from a quite good explanation at Yahoo answers:

"At normal surface atmospheric pressure, water evaporates. The vapor is not hot enough to be steam, as from a kettle or heated pot, but it is water vapor, and the lower air temperature cause the vapor to condense enough to be visible."

I thouhgt the canadians would know these thins :-)
