Allmost all his recent CDs from MIneapolis period sound so poor that we can hardly blieve that he was already mature at that time. In order to eliminate the prejudice and to verifiy his greatness even in this years, I would like to represent you a nice reproduction of his performances as WAVE file using my audio system. Please compare it with especially with Furtwaengler's one! Please tell me which is much more coriolan-like! I can imagine more clearly Coriolans's tragedy with this music. Being famous and being authentic don't always coniside.

they are both great. Mitropoulos has a clearer vision while Furtwaengler has unparalleled intensity. I am a great fan of mitropoulos

one of the greatest, specifically in his live records where there's such a sense of emergency of this very precise moment, like present burning in front of us. (i usually don't like Karajan but his studio version of Coriolan is very good too)
Mitropoulos in Mahler and Berlioz has to be listened.

Mitropoulos was one of the greatest conductors and musical geniuses who ever lived; thank you so much for restoring this and sharing it with us on YouTube! His live performances always show more genius than his studio efforts, IMO.
