The Idaho State Capitol is currently undergoing a $120 million restoration and expansion. With every work day the building eases its way closer to the original architect John E. Tourtellotte's intent as a place "to obtain grand and majestic effects." Two platforms on the Capitol's fourth floor south side are now removed--returning the building to its open, original state circa 1920.
John E. Tourtellotte seems to be finding renewed acclaim for his work decades after his death. The restored Idaho state capitol will showcase his innovative and spiritually-inspired vision as it was originally intended. I'm looking foward to the unveiling.
