The more modern looking car could be the one developed by a team around Harvey Postlethwaite, with which Honda wanted to enter a works team in F1, but the plan was cancelled when Postlethwaite died. Honda instead supported BAR and Jordan.
I am just speculating if that is the car, may be the car Postlethwaite developed had another name.
@porksniffer Do you know when and why these two cars were built and for what purpose exactly, surely not just to drive around motegi? are these f1 cars from the early 90's or some kind of nostalgic tribute replicas, knowing how much the Japanese loved Senna and the f1 of old , I wouldn't put it past the Honda boys to build these out of nostalgic longing for yesteryear :D, i did google it but found nothing :/
This video brought tears to my eyes. That sound is unmistakeable. It's the Honda V12 from 1991/1992 in the MP4/6. How I miss this sound. To bad the drivers aren't driving the car in anger. It's an incredible sound and maybe one day F1 gets it's act together and brings back the V12. This particular one, the RC 1.5X and RC 2 were test mules and demo cars for the twin ring motegi from Honda R&D in 2002.
@porksniffer F1 certainly had better get their act together quick. The current formula is getting old fast.
