It is sad that Mubarak Begum did not get more hits than she did. Lata and Asha (I love them both) were just too dominent a force in those years; yet it is a shame that we were deprived of the talents of singers like Mubarak Begum....and quite a few others as well.

Originally Kedar Sharma wanted Lata to sing this song! But her recording commitments kept Lata too busy. So Snehal got hold of Mubarak Begum. And aren't we happy that he did? When the recording was finished, Kedar Sharma just sat glued to his chair after listening to Mubarak Begum sing his composition!! It still has the same effect on all lovers of good music. Raat ki gehrai aur dilki tanhai mein agar yeh gana suna jaaye to.............

@anandjee The Mangeskars destroyed a lot of talent and that was not purely due to their excellence. Well, Lata is not singing anymore and will die one day... wonder what she will do with this money she has earned. Her voice and name will stay here for long but what will happen to her soul will have to bear the pain she has caused to those artists by her manipulation and arm twisting tactics... I like her songs but not her as a person....

@Khayyam17 .. Thanks dear friend for sharing this soulful song..a Kedar Sharma - Snehal Bhatkar musical creation sung so feelingly by Mubarak Begum simply lifts you away to another world. The root essence of this song is the display of loneliness and solitude..
