A couple of decades ago, Manfred Eicher's ECM label had already surpassed any American record label's commitment to an artist being allowed their full range expression. It's now very unlikely that any American label will ever achieve the diversity of the ECM Records discography.

The video kicks in at about the 3:06 mark. Terje is fantastic, there is no boundaries with his music.

JIMI HENDRIX used to hear Terje Rypdal's LPs! Meanwhile his breaks, during his studio sessions (or home breaks); between his Bob Dylan favourite records.

Yngwie Malmsteen is an idiot. Terje Rypdal PROGRESSIVE MUSIC rulez three million times over the idiot of Malmsteen!

From 1975 until 1978 Terje has played three times in my hometown Goettingen (Germany) at a small sold out club called "Podium". Closing my eyes, I still can see him and Palle Mikkelborg (flugelhorn & keyboard) right in front of me, just two meters from the front row. The air was filled with these incredible space sounds. A band with a great rhythm section too consisting of Sveinung Hovensjo and Jon Christensen. - AWESOME. - Can't wait for the upcoming extended 2012-release of "Odyssey" on ECM !

@earospace THANK YOU! I've been waiting to hear THAT news for YEARS now. I can't wait to hear the extra track too!

I never dreamed there was a video of this - it still seems like it was stolen or kidnapped off another planet to let us lucky earthlings witness pure magic.
