Video response to the Powers of 10 film by Ray and Charles Eames (http://www.allthingsscience.com/video/42/Powers-of-Ten).
It's an amazing time to be alive: the edges of the world are growing smaller, everything is at the tips of our fingers, and the immediacy of our consumption has never been greater.
The Powers of 10 deals with quantifying those things we still don't know, searching for context, understanding our place in the universe and a general curiosity about what it is to be human.
I wanted to create a video response that deals with these same ideas but in terms of life as it is today. So what better way to express these ideas than through the virtual manifestation of our community: YouTube.
Condensed into every 5 seconds, you will see YouTube videos that were viewed as many times as the exponent shown. So the first video had 10 views, then you'll see the equivalent of 100 views, then 1000, and so on. By the end you'll have watched one billion trillion viewed videos.
I believe it speaks to the way we parse information along with what was at the heart of The Powers of 10 film. Although the footage from YouTube is copyrighted, using portions less than 5 seconds constitutes "fair use."
Hope you enjoy.

About half way through you start going through a lot of videos. Does that mean # of views of video1 + # views of video 2 etc. = 10^6 or whatever?
