Huéhuetl Construction: Drums for the Return Of Quetzalcoatl

The building of Juan Díes's custom huéhuetl set was a truly international effort: Juan collected various Aztec images from archaeological archives and sent them to to the drum maker in Mexico, who carved the drums and sent them back to Chicago, where Juan's mother helped him paint them.

The word refers to the deity ("precious pair") and the elite title, but through the passage of time many have gotten confused between the priestly title and the deity. There is no evidence to suggest that Quetzalcoatl means "precious knowledge" among classical Nahua peoples; where do you get that idea from? By the way, the Mexihcah were appropriately called "Aztecs" because they were people from Aztlan.

@noor8, quetzalcoatl is not a god, let alone human form. Quetzalcoatl was a position one held once they reached a higher level of understanding.

The most famous person to hold this position was Ce Akatl Topiltzin Quetzalcoatl, but it isn't a name , its kind of like being able to hold the title of " DR " in a way.

The return of quetzalcoatl shouldn't be acknowledge has " his" return.

When our ancestors spoke of the return of quetzalcoatl, they were in fact speaking of the return of this consciousness, not a god to return. That is a christian agenda.
