The Movie Show Online interviewed Mary HARRON & Gretchen MOL about 'THE NOTORIOUS BETTIE PAGE'.
Inspired by the real life story of Bettie Page, the enigmatic 1950's fashion model, co-writer/director Mary Harron recreates an era where sex and pop culture were at logger heads with conservative Christian values.
Gretchen MOL stars as the New York pin-up sensation whose contentious bondage photos gained notoriety in the underground porn industry. Raised in a devoutly religious household, Bettie Page retained her innocence and spirituality in spite of her controversial modelling career. But as her fame grew, so did her notoriety and she soon became a target for the Senate investigation into pornography.

Man I think She did an awesome job of playing bettie page. She not only looked very close to her but she did a good job of capturing who bettie page was. I don't think Dita Von Tesse would have done such a good job simply because she has the bondage thing down but didn't have the innocence of Bettie Page.

@ds122686 EXACTLY! Bernie Dexter is much better than Dita for the role. Bernie is more of a classic pin-up though she couldn't match Bettie. One thing Bernie has for her is she isn't afraid to smile large like most models of today, they'd feel that they'd be ugly. That is one thing I love about Bernie & Bettie both.

@evilcowboy Dita Von Tesse also just didn't have the look right. Dita looks much too manly to me. I think Bernie Dexter would have been a good choice actually. Gretchen Mol did fantastic though.

It is shunned upon to recommend abstinence because it is "matter of fact"-ly impractical, but when you point out the "matter-of-fact'ly root causes of our US and western culture becoming so licentious in the first place (people like Betty Page), you are equally shunned. Just think about that and the total hypocrisy of this stance. And it is mainstream, as is increasing narcissism, and a morality of "if it feels right, its ok" (yes, verified by study) morality. But nvm, nobody else cares.

I agree with everyones opinion here- I love dita von teese, my girlfriend and I are huge fans and she certainly captures the sexiness of betty page. But, she just doesn't have the same personality
