I recently attended District Attorney Kathleen Rices Over the Limit, Under Arrest press conference to kick-off national STOP-DWI mobilization week from August 21 September 7 in connection with 11,000 law enforcement agencies nationally.

During this enforcement wave, local law enforcement agencies statewide will be out in full-force, utilizing sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols, to deter drunk driving and ensure the safety of our roadways.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving have reported that forty (40 %) off all fatalities last Labor Day involved a drunk driver and that police are doubling their efforts to keep our roads safe.

I want to thank District Attorney Kathleen Rice, Commissioner Mulvey and the Nassau County Police, the Department of Motor Vehicles, The National Highway and Traffic Administration, New York State Police and local elects for their efforts in raising awareness to this problem. I also want to encourage residents to stay safe and sober.
