Installation was performed on 3/29/2011.
1st bill of $49.85 was debited on 4/15/2011. (should have been $29.99
Services was cancelled immediately on 4/16.2011 with promise of waiving the early cancellation fee by a Direct TV Supervisor (ACE Group)
On May 16th, Direct TV cleaned out my checking account with a $389.14 debit to my account.

Update: Even after cleaning out my checking account for $389.14, DirectTV sent me an email on May 16th saying that my account is past due & I still owe them $42.15 which they plan to charge the debit card I have on file with them.

If a similar circumstance occurs with YOU, do not believe anything they tell you over the phone. Cancel your Debit Card with your bank IMMEDIATELY, so they can not steal your money as they stole mine.
NEVER do a direct debit via a checking account number. It's less hassle to get a new debit card with a new number than to close out your checking account & open a new checking account. (advice from my bank)

In Addition:
File a complaint with your State's Attorney General, they will also forward the complaint to the BBB for you as well.

  • we have every right to collect any money that is due, just as if you dont pay your phone, and exactly you ASSumed, you shouldve asked before getting anything, what the hell did you expect to get services free I don't understand why customers want everything for free, its not a freaking necessity to have tv be able to afford it before you order it, its your fault for not asking. not ALL of us are liars so please, we have people lying to us all the time so save your sermon..

  • @1004julieserrano I expected to get what I was TOLD I was going to get, and to be billed what I was TOLD I would be billed. You're an idiot Julie. I'm sure glad YouTube gives us a Block button. ROFL

    I finally received a Full Refund so I'm quite happy now. DirecTV rips people off all the time, and it's no wonder when they have folks like Julie working for them.

  • But you signed the installation paperwork. When you do that it basically states the installer installed what should be installed. It's your job to see what is installed before signing. Your fault. Stupidity like this is why they charge cancel fees

  • When you sign that installation agreement, they have you contractually. I've also been screwed by both Dish and Directv. Paid TV just isn't worth it! BTW, the cable companies do the same bull crap.

  • if u crazy customers pay attention to your bill you would be a much happier person. pay attention to whats going on duuuh! people dont read the customer agreement and work orders. calling a lawyer isnt going to do anything because they recieve a paper with everything on it and they sign it saying that they agree with the terms and conditions

  • The technician that came out here lied to me, the reps on the phone lied to me as well. Contact your attorney general and the FCC i know thousands and thousands of people have already done so. I get extra charges on my bill every other month, my original promo allows for up to 4 receivers, now that i want a 2nd one they want to charge me $200 and $50 for coming out when the tech said it would be included in my promotion. They are a shady company.

  • ok, they do this to everyone that will put up with it!!! Do you know how many busy people out there that will just let this go and pay it? (( And they know this)) If you are a consistent by the certified mail complainer you will eventually get treated fairly. Phones calls don't get you anywhere. Now my internet company is playing the same game !!!! But, I know how to play!!!
