ALL NEW! Here is something that will probably never be seen again, given how reruns of games tend to end immediately after the game. Here is an extended close with banter between Charlie Jones and Jimmy Cefalo with the theme playing in the background toward the end. Note the oversized Buccaneer mascot. There were miniature versions of these called 'Huddles'... I was lucky enough to get 25 of them... still need Packers, 49ers, and Colts to complete the original 28, but haven't seen them anywhere since 1989 :(

  • I could listen to Charlie Jones voice call a game all day. Favorite play by play voice of all time.

  • @maseda17 Definitely in the same class as Curt Gowdy and Dick Enberg as one of the voices that defined NBC (Perhaps moreso for Charlie as he lasted much longer at the network)... :)

  • I remember watching that game on the then-WXFL that day! That was a rare sellout for the Bucs at that time.

  • @marcus813 The most interesting part (Sad for Tampa Bay at the time), was that the majority of people attended were Dol-Fans... When Miami went up 17-0, it was hard to tell the game was in Tampa... :)

  • @marcus813 The Bucs NFL Huddle mascot was awesome! In fact, I loved all of the Huddles. They should bring those mascots back!

  • @ycdtotv I hope they do because (looks left... looks right), I still have 25 of the original 28 that the NFL produced in miniatures (About 6 inches tall in scale)... I never could find the Colts, 49ers, or Packers after the mascots were discontinued in the late 80s... :)

  • @FutureNewsAnchor Couldn't ESPN classic get permission to air NFL games if they wanted to? After all, they show NFL Films which are also owned by the NFL.

  • @marcus813 I like seeing the old school uniforms and helmets, but they'd need updating too. And I'm also a fan of the two-bar facemask! The Huddles were cute and appropriate for small children who were growing into the game of football, as I was in the early and mid 1980s

  • @ycdtotv With a facemask modification, it could work. I wouldn't mind seeing a modernized version of the Huddles!

  • @WREYtube I have the Packers, but don't have either Niner 49er or Cody Colt. (Their official names).

  • @jwgreek8606 ESPN Classic cannot air rebroadcasts of classic NFL games, because, by rule, the copyright to a televised NFL game reverts back to the National Football League upon its completion. NFL Network can air classic NFL games because they are owned by the League, obviously.

  • @WREYtube Dolphin Fan was the only way WXFL would've been allowed to air that game. The Bucs were circling the drain at that point on the field and in the bleachers. Every regular season visit from the Dolphins has been televised in Tampa Bay since then and I'm glad it wasn't just because of Dolphin Fan the last few times like it was in 1988.
