  • i use pinstripes and ambassadors on swingstars and they have a decent amount of resonanace.the bottom head plays a part in the resonance of the drum.

  • I really like when he just grooves on snare, kick and hi-hat, like he often did while with The Mahavishnu Orchestra. He has such good hands in this You Tube clip!

  • I also think that they were tuned fairly low and it was a direct off the board recording which might explain why they were dead sounding.. In the 70's Billy usually had a wide open sound, but he started changing that in the 80's. I don't know why. I personally loved the '70's tunings of his various kits.

  • Fiberstar weren't acrylic drums, I think they were fiberglass. Billy is also using PinStripes on the batter heads, which can deaden the drum a

  • I agree, they must be the Fiber-Stars, they sound like acrylic drums DEAD!!!

  • Chops master!!!

  • wow... great clip... the kit looks very much like one of the ultrarare Fibre-Star kits... judging by how the inside of the tom-shells look like... Cheers, PIT... :-)
