  • best of luck to you both. Would be good to hear about your progress. I need to learn storyboarding too. My art education was a vwery long time ago...

  • @Rcinch1 thanks alot

  • @HotPocketsBoy What I would do in your position is to do the community college thing for now.

After you graduate, you can always transfer to another school like Uni or FullSail or CalArts.

Major schools are always impressed with people who have some formal education already under their belt.

Especially when it comes time to award scholarships.

So do the community college thing for now.

You can always transfer to a school like the art institute after you graduate. Good Luck Dude!

  • @Rcinch1 yea i thought about comm colleges but the courses where i live aren't really straight forward animation classes. am worried am going to waste my time and not get the real education to get a job in the field. They have like photoshop classes mixed in and motion graphics. it kinda worries me lol. I thought about going to an online art school but am still pondering.

  • @Rcinch1Also, see if your college that you want to attend has a film department.

You could see if the department teaches storyboarding and take those classes as electives.

Most film departments at most community colleges teach storyboarding to some degree.

    I hope this helps.

Shoot me another e-mail if you need more advice.

    Good Luck!

  • @HotPocketsBoy Okay, here is what you do. Many community colleges have animation programs that include traditional drawing with computer graphics..

They will usually call it "MULTIMEDIA" which is another word for animation and design all in one major.

I am majoring in multimedia so I know what I am talking about.

When you take a 3D animation course, storyboarding is heavily involved.

  • @Rcinch1 well am not a student yet. but i am torn between becoming an animator or story artist. I love the idea of drawing a story i just dont know what kind of classes to take to become a storyboard artist. I was thinking 2D animation but there are practically no schools that teach 2D animation

  • @HotPocketsBoy I'm taking computer design and animation classes.

I also took some fine arts classes with traditional drawing too!

I have also taken writing classes too!

Right now I'm taking a poetry class this semester.

Next semester I want to study 3D Modelling.

I draw every day and get better all the time.

Are you an art student too?

  • @Rcinch1 what type of classes r u taking?

  • I am a film/animation student hoping to do this for a living someday!

I attend Bucks County Community College in Newtown, PA.

Any advice you could give me?

Any helpful information would be appreciated!

    Thank You For Your Time!

    Sincerely,

    Ryan
