@ThePurpleRay What happens if person with an autoimmune disease gives blood ?? They probably reject, because if a disease if unknown etiology, it could be infectious.
What happens if a person who don't know they have the lyme disease give blood? Will the person getting the blood, get the lyme disease? ( I bet a vampire who drink that would become even meaner, cause a tick is a beast to)
I am so happy to see these wonderfully talented people taking time out to send a message to the rest of the world that Lyme disease is a devastating illness that does SUCK the life out of you!!! Thank you, and God bless...
Most chronic Lyme disease sufferers experience a level of disability equivalent to that of a person who has suffered from a recent heart attack. As chronicled in the documentary, "Under Our Skin," those with chronic Lyme experience so much physical, neurological, and cognitive dysfunction that they end up losing their jobs, homes, mobility, and, in some cases, their lives.
@haylz27 Ticks are not the only creatures who carry Lyme. They have found it in mosquitoes, horse flies and most any bug that lives off of blood as a food source.
@tracywill9 Awareness is the key. Complete awareness. Lyme Disease is currently in the position Aids was decades ago. No one understands it. No one cares to understand it. People need to make a movement!
We lobbied at our state house last year for our state to declare a certain month Lyme Awareness Day. It took some effort, but they finally did it.
@tracywill9 Amen. I live with it every day; it is so mis-understood by everyone (both doctors and the community). Lyme & its co-infections can reek havoc and a perfectly good immune system. It is a shame that more people don't understand, or don't want to...I have run across so many hard-headed people...
I just hope more people pay attention to adds like this and make themselves aware!
Lyme Disease is believed to be at the root of many illnesses. It is a virulent bacteria that is "intelligent", hiding and evading antibiotics by forming cysts that protect it from being killed. It can invade healthy cells, camouflaging itself from the immune system. It is misdiagnosed as Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue and many other diseases. Severity of symptoms can run from functional to bedridden and even death.
To remove a tick, use fine-tipped tweezers. Firmly grasp the tick very close to your skin. With a steady motion, pull the ticks body away from your skin. Clean your skin with soap and warm water. Avoid crushing the ticks body. If you accidentally crush the tick, clean your skin with soap and warm water or alcohol.Dont use petroleum jelly, a hot match, nail polish, or other products to remove a tick.
