A butt joint is a vertical seam created when two ends of drywall come together to make a seam. These joints are more difficult for the beginner because these edges are not recessed. The tape is above the surface and must be completely hid using only mud and a little skill. If not handled correctly, these vertical seams will be easily visible as a hump on the painted wall. Once the wall is painted, it becomes much more difficult to correct it.

  • i have to agree with yall..he dont know anything..it needs to be feathered out more if there is a hump in it..for the time it took him to do that..i could have had the room done by hand..when you are getting paid to do it..you got to be good and make it look good..

  • @TheFaris1313 impossible! you know-it-alls make me laugh. if i didnt know better, i might believe you.

  • this clown has no idea how to finish drywall.... no one should listen to him, sadly enough he probably still gets paid to do it.

  • @killaclown151 I don't mind allowing negative comments so long as there is no bad language. Oh! You're right. I do get paid. Who said clowns should have to work for free.

  • mesh tape on a residential project? its not standard practice in australia. Ezytape is used for commercial partition work.

  • @Hirokiji I don't know what Ezytape is unless you are talking about paper tape.

  • Thank you so much! I used the mesh tape and all turned out smooth and wonderful!

  • @InShatteredMolds mesh tape should only be used with fast-set mud. use paper tape if you're using anything else.

  • Good job my friend, I see Many people against mesh tape, and i will never use BUT mesh tape , because for years of using it the correct way i never got a call back on cracks or whatever, because you need to use setting mud with the 1st coat. Period. if you dont like mesh , dont use it ! da da ! keep it up

  • Is that a curved 10inch knife?

  • @TheCactus71 ezytape is mesh tape we call it that in australia as its ezy to apply , ruff tho , not good on butts , but hey your the expert right?

  • @TheCactus71 Mesh Tape is otherwise known as easy-tape (Ezytape). Paper tape is for the professional finish bar none.
