Retention of High School Math Students

I would love to research the effective factors that promote long-term retention in American high school math students. By finding the answer to my question, I will not only be able to better myself as a future mathematics teacher, but I will also have the opportunity to enhance my students' learning capacities as well as assist other teachers through my research with their math programs across America.
