When Walmart opened their Super Walmart here in Carroll, they drastically cut the yarn department. Ever since then they have been inconsistent with the type and color of yarn they carry. They have eliminated all Red Heart baby yarns including Baby Econo, Soft Baby, Super Saver Multi-color Baby Print, Caron Lilac Bud, New Mint, etc. They are now in the process of eliminating the rest of the Caron and bringing in Lion Brand Homespun, which is more difficult to work with and costs over twice the amount of the Red Heart and Caron.

Walmart's Corporate Headquarters makes the decisions on what each store carries. If you are as disappointed as I am with the way that Walmart is handling the yarn department, please call 1-800-Walmart and ask them to RESTORE OUR YARN DEPARTMENT to what it was before they brought in the new store. Please make sure you tell them to pass your message on to whoever makes these decisions. Thank you.

  • In my town, Walmart is the only yarn place to shop! I too remember all the yarn varieties they use to carry. I did notice when I went to look down the isle, there has been some redesigning and they have added somewhat a better selection. Adding Lion Brands, Caron, Red Heart, still there, Peaches & Creme (which I use a lot of) and some unknown brand I never heard of (acrylic). I'm still disappointed, but maybe it's improving. The crochet magazines are disappearing! New Iberia, LA

  • In our small town, there is NO other place to buy yarn other than Wal-mart. We still have yarn, but I keep watching them downsize our craft department. It's at least 50 miles to go to another store that even carries yarn!!!

  • I wish Wal*Mart would bring back the yarn, too! It used to be far better stocked than the Michael's store here (in my city), but now there are no good stores for yarn.

Please, Wal*Mart, bring back the yarn!!!!!!!

  • I know what you are talking about. But where I live you can still find the

super savers by red heart. I also remember when walmart had a whole

wall full of yarn back in the crafts department where I live. Now that

wall is full of fake flowers that I don't know what to do with.
