My nephew and I setup a small forge out of fire proof bricks and loaded it up with some blacksmithing coal. We heated up a few nails and pounded them around. Good times. I'm defiantly going to play with this more.
The coal is labeled as "blacksmithing coal" thats all i really know about it. Bought it from a local smith. As for the whole forge, our goal was just to play around. I do plan on tweeking it for actual use. It was a lot of fun.
a lot of early forges were just a hole in the ground 1 thing to try is lowwer the angle for your air feed and narrow the brick setup to about 8 inches also try using hardwood lump charcoal for fuel if u cant get low sulpher coal
