http://BeverlyMonical.com Do you Finish What You Start? Beverly Monical tells what she does to help her Finish What You Start. Comments are appreciated.
I have to close windows also, especially when I do my homework. I have learned lately with so much going on that I have to allow myself time to jump around and just do... Yet I have to say if the past few months I can finally say I am finishing things that I start. It is a very nice accomplishment.
I got distracted while listening to this can you believe! Yes I get scattered so I use lists and my google calender to try and keep on track. I also have to close windows or I get distracted as I just did! I am way better than I used to be......So now I am finishing this commenting, posting last weeks videos and then cleaning!
I always start my day with meditation grounding myself in Truth- this balances my day and allows me to be led. I take time out throughout my day to pause and be still to continue the balance, this makes for a harmonious day.
I go through spurts with organization. But I've been there and done that with the computers. Having to reload everything. As to passwords, I have a spreadsheet I printed out with them and all pages have new signons with passwords. Time to redo my password sheet and reprint them!
This is my achilles heel, so I can totally relate (and.. I refuse to ignore the bottle of wine like you told us, I took it as a hint that I need to stop and have a glass!)
I have a folder in my bookmark bar that is my "Daily Operation" and I go through that one by one and get my tasks done. Then, and only then, can I move on to other projects. (Oh, and the bookmark bar, and everything else about my computer, is stored in the Cloud.... love cloud computing!!)
Hi Beverly....I just had a conversation with one of my clients about the subject of multi-tasking and how multi-tasking is not very efficient. She is a physical therapist that works with brain injuries. There are brain studies that prove that multi-tasking is inefficient because when we multi-task, there is not enough down-time to process the task at hand with clarity and cognitive rest in-between each task. Her advice: Basically, it is better to do one thing at a time with rest in between.
Beverly, thank you for this powerful advice! I am notorious for starting something and not finishing because I lose interest. Typically it's not the critical stuff that I do this with and can follow through with the things that really matter to me. I'm in the middle of writing a speech about suicide right now and I'm having a hard time staying focused... but I am determined!
I woke up this morning with a ver similar thought. I thought I might look at how to plan my days as though it was a schedule in high school, so I know where I'm going and what I need to prioritize. I am on vacation this week so am able to step back and observe a little more closely what is working for me and what isn't.. FInishing what I start is a wonderful addition to that kind of commitment.

My tip: Having a large wall calendar and scheduling your entire year, including your editorial calendar and sales activities.
