US microchip maker Intel Inc has overtaken Microsoft as the company that has received the highest-ever fine from the European antitrust authorities. EU Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes announces the fine at a press conference.

  • so competition occurs when you only have one chip maker yeh? Intel practises were ruthless and at the end of the day people pay for quality, not basic chips sets made by a corporation who spends more time destroying competition than actually innovating which is what AMD have done in spite of this - 64-bit processers are an AMD creation NOT an intel vision...

  • I don't. This is a disgrace to capitalism, a blatant violation of competition and rights.

  • When this is over, the Intel products are gonna get more expensive and nobody likes that.

  • This is laughable. Intel offers rebates to drive down consumer prices and gets charged with being uncompetitive. I guess the EU thinks that market competition is best when there isn't much if it.
