Jamiroquai Bass Cover 1975 Fender Jazz straight into Tascam CD-BT1 mixed with CD audio, both bass and CD audio are routed through line out on Tascam into PC line and recorded with Total Recorder on one track. The big fat bass at the front is my jazz with full on bridge volume, 20% neck volume with full on bass and just roll back a fith. Awesome bass tone.
The camera sound alone was poor hence the reason I recorded direct. As a result I've had to sync recorded audio over the camera sound but both were done simultaneously in the same take. I just attempted to make the sound clearer so my playing can be heard.

  • The part at 3:52 is so fast, i just can't get the hang of it!

  • @Galv1nBass Just do it slow to begin with. It is tricky but hang with it and you'll get there. Play with your plucking hand close to the bridge. There is more tension there and you can play faster and it's less muddy. The closer you play to the neck brings out more of the bottom but can be tricky for fast passages. Let me know how you get on, good luck.

  • As for the syncing, you have to use movie production software where you can edit sound. I use Magix Movie Maker. Basically you put the movie file in a track and put the direct audio along side it in another track. Then Zoom in to the track to see the wav file of both tracks and offset the audio to the video visually by comparing the peaks and lows on the wavs. It's not perfect as you have 25 fps and sometimes it can fall just between a frame.

  • Thanks for the nice comments folks. It's an awesome bassline and Zender is one talented musician. He is the most tasteful bass player I've heard, he's just got a brilliant sense of rythmn, melody ans style, you could say complete. You don't just hear the bass with him but the player behind the sound. Most players plod along and blag it, but not Stu he's got a true feel for the bass and most of us just have to stand in awe and admit we're never gonna be that good.

  • @marshfly The problem is...i have a problem with my little finger. It does not bend properly. When i stretch it, it gets stuck and i can't bend it. Really annoying when you have to play fast tracks. I can manage to do all jamiroquai songs with my little finger, but this requires some dexterity i don't have :D

  • beatiful guitar man, sounds good
