  • What song is that one that starts at 2.00?

    I love it!!

    Hes AMAZING!!!!!!!

Absolutely ridiculous - I know nothing about opera... But how the hell does he do that AND breathe????

  • Well, believe it or not, that's how fell head-over-heels in love with opera...I was so ASTONISHED at just how difficult the music they sing is and how amazingly easy opera signers make it seem! It's endlessly more interesting and amazing than the mediocre pop singers of today...

Anyway, to answer your question, it actually comes across the screen at 2:33 - "La Danza" ("The Dance") by Gioachino Rossini :)

  • @SsteinwayS I know!! I completely agree!!! I'm falling for opera now, and I particularly love Rolando Villazon, I think he's amazing, I love the passion - as you say, you just don't feel/get moved in the same way with pop music... (And I do like my pop music!) But it's like opera can't even be classed in the same category, opera takes so much more talent, passion and entertainment!!! Do you have any recommendations of operas, now Im getting into them??!!!

  • Hehe :) Join the dark side!! I don't what's really your style, but my favourite singers are Natalie Dessay, Cecilia Bartoli, Samuel Ramey, Jessye Norman, Roberto Alagna, Thomas Hampson, etc. :) Maria Callas is a legend in the world of opera...she's got an ugly voice, but she grows on you :) Just search around, listen to what you like and search more until you find something that you just love :) I learnt so much just from watching and listening on YouTube!

  • @SsteinwayS Yeah I've been listening to a lot on Youtube (I've heard of Maria Callas a lot! My mum talks about her too! And the well known ones like the 3 tenors) To be honest I don't like a lot of female opera singers' voices to listen to for a while, but Anna Netrebko has a really clear voice that I like, and not too warbly or underwater sounding (but I wouldn't know what's good technically)! Thanks for the recommendations, I will check them out! :D (And thanks for posting the vid...Love it!)

  • :) Good for you! I'm not a huge fan of Netrebko because sometimes her high notes are off pitch and her vocal technique singing fast parts is often sub-par, but she has a beautiful voice, and she's a very sweet person! To each their own...it's very subjective for everyone, and it depends on what operatic music you like too (there's lots of different kinds out there!) and different singers sing different things because some kinds of music suit their voices better :) Enjoy!!

  • I also posted more parts of the TV program with Rolando Villazón (and I'm posting the rest too) so check them out too if you haven't already! :)
