From 1987 comes this Sony Super Betamax Digital sales tape. This was used to help sell Beta models SL-HF860D, SL-HF840D and SL-810D. Produced by the Sony Video Communications Center in Park Ridge, New Jersey.
Of course, this is why Betamax actually BEAT VHS in terms of being hand-picked by major broadcasting studios for their quality, as the former format never truly died (BTW, did you notice that the skyline featured near the end of the video was that of Vancouver, British Columbia?).
I've got one of those (SL-HF860D) and still runs good! Maybe Those digital effects might work for some Old fashioned amateur video editing.
I'm thinking about sourcing the Betamax with whatever recording (guess if it can be done straight from the VIDEO IN jack, gotta find it out) and outputting the "Digital" processed signal to, say, a component-video capture card in my computer, then uploading it to see the results. The final cut would look so 80s!
my sister had one of those and only lasted two years in normal use, for that time there was no way to fix it, then she bought another one.. without those irrelevant and unnecesary features..!
@webcambooksjr Looks like Canada Place from Expo. 86 in Vancouver.
