To 'DepressedEnglishChap'. I believe they were all removed from the beach and scrapped in 1985 after some brainless little idiot kid fell from one when the tide was out. His equally retarded and grasping parents then attempted to sue the Council, "not for the money, but for the principle". Wankers.
The 'blame and claim' culture was thus born in the mid-eighties, and to quickly explode into the ruination of anything enjoyable in this country. Sad.

On the subject of 'beach boats', can anyone shed some light as to where the abandoned, decaying array of small vessels disappeared to which were 'moored' upon the foreshore, just south of the pier up until the early '80's, and why?
There were at least ten of them, and myself and my two elder sisters, as well as many other kids of the time would make it their mission to reach them at low tide. Most of them were half-full of sea-water, but they remained prominent for years. Victims of HSE?
