My favorite hymn. This may sound strange but I always walk away when I hear this song feeling just awful. God has done so much and I remain a wretched sinner. Thankfully He is merciful.

@reesie2222 Actually, Patrick only created the tune as a simple folk song. There is no evidence that Patrick wrote the lyrics to Be Thou My Vision. There is some evidence that the original lyrics were from a poem called “Rob tu mo bhoile, a Comdi cride", authorship attributed to Dallan Forgaill. Although this is still unsure. Later, in 1905, the poem was translated from Gaelic into English by Mary E. Byrne, and then in 1912 Eleanor Hull converted the lyrics to “Be Thou My Vision”.

This one of my favorites too, and I love Michael Card!

This is sung in the Lutheran Church in America and it is one of my very favorite Hymns. I Like the version also that Sissel Kyrkjebo a Norwegian singer sings. I know that God is my refuge and strength and without His Love I am nothing. I play this song everynight and hum it all day. You can find Sissel's version on You Tube also. God Bless us all.

Patrick, a teenager in Roman Britain, was abducted by Irish pirates & brought to Ireland as a slave. He defied the High King of Tara's edict and lit a candle for Passover/Easter and wrote Be Thou My V

I haven't heard this song since I was little. Only now do I realize that God truly loves me more than I can ever understand. I give him my life now. Thank you, my one and only Savior.

God Bless Michael. One wonderful Hymn, it may be ancient, but keep singing it.
I love it. An Irish lass. Ave Maria.

Beautiful song, voice and video! God bless!

One of the best hymns in the church. Glad Michael did a remake. Truly gets the Irish in you going. Wonder if Michael still has his ministry in Ireland.

Like JennyBeth, this song was also performed at our wedding. I love it, and I love Michael Card's rendition of it.
