why fuss about this.. its a 1000cc bike tuned for sport racing and a bike tuned for long travel.. the ktm is far more capable in every way.

I am a former long time sport bike rider who swapped over to off road enduros. got rid of sportbike because riding positions were so diff between dirt & sportbike. plus roads & highways are shit where i live. I am seriously considering spending the cash to get the KTM 990 so I can have the freedom to ride with my off road skills on the everyday rough backroads & highways. The 990 may only top @ 130mph, but those 160mph days are over for me anyways.

@cobra96svt570 t is actually "travel"--but yes--touring type rides more than the the R--for Race--as in harder edged suspension but it is still pretty comfy. And smaller tank, lighter wheels, lighter,firmer seat.

to me the ktm 990 smt is not a true supermoto. A supermoto should have no more then 600cc TOP"s but really a true supermot shoould only be around 450cc. my opinion. If I want a supermoto Ill buy a dr450SM, they were the firast true supermotos.All KTM did was take a 990 touring bike and put supoermoto wheels on it. Im not saying that It isnt a badass bike, I love KTMs, and all bikes. But If you want something for the road, buy a street or touring. If you want on & offroad buy a enduro.
