**Still Sara's POV**
Joe: Was I right?
I nodded, staring in the mirror again.
Joe: And the rest of the day we are doing whatever you want
"Really?" I asked, smiling again.
Joe: I promise.
"Anything I like.... hmmm......" I tried to think of something more I could even want. All I wanted was to be with Joe, and nothing could make me happier on my birthday. And I said so.
Joe: But you get me nearly every day. Nothing special?
Again, I was silent, thinking. "You make every day special Joe, what more could I ask for?"
Joe: *chuckles* I guess I'l have to plan for the day then.
"Or we could just stay here" I said quietly, leaning back even more. I didn't want him to get up.
Joe: If that's what you want
"Just for a little while." I said, closing my eyes again as he pressed his cheek against my shoulder and kissed my neck. You'd think that after about 2 years of him doing stuff like that I'd get used to it. But no, every time he came near me, kissed me, said something to me, even LOOKED at me my heart fluttered and pounded. As his nose reached just under my jaw he must have found my pulse and noticed my heart beating miles a minute because he leaned back.
Joe: You okay Sara?
I blushed a little. "More than okay, Joe. Why wouldn't it be?"
He pressed his hand over my heart, which OBVIOUSLY made it thunder even more against my ribs. I blushed even more. "Nothing exactly new....." I felt the smile spread across his face as his face was again buried in my shoulder, which was more exposed than usual since I was wearing my new off the shoulder sweater my sister had gotten me for my birthday (so OBVIOUSLY my heart sped up. I didn't even know that could have been possible.... apparently it was).
Joe: This happens frequently?
He didn't realize this? "Only every time I'm near you" I admitted. His smiled grew wider and he traced a line up my neck, again stopping on my pulse. He seemed fascinated by this discovery of his. "Joe stop it" I said, without any real conviction in my voice and I nearly regretted it, remembering what my mom had told me a few years ago.
Joe: Does it bother you that much?
I was surprised he had stopped. I was fairly certain my mom had said that when told to stop boys would totally go out of control. No... I'm certain she said that. "You.. actually stopped."
Joe: You told me to
He sounded genuinely confused that I was confused. "I know... it's just.... my mom said....." My voice trailed away as I grew more and more embarrassed, but he seemed to understand.
Joe: Did you really expect me to be like that?
"......" I didn't want to say that I did. But he IS a boy.....
Joe: *shifts around so he is in front of me and takes my shoulders in his hands* Sara. I would NEVER do anything you didn't want me to. Never. You understand?
"I...." I was going to say that I did, but he seemed to think my hesitation was doubt and he continued.
Joe: I won't tell you that the thought occurs to me. I can't lie. But I will never take advantage of you. I want you to know that if you tell me to stop, I'll stop. No matter what. You matter to me more than life itself and I couldn't ever do anything to risk that.
He was going to keep going, but I put my finger over his lips. "I know, Joe. And I dearly love you for it" My heart sped up again. That was the first time I actually said that to him. But it was so true that I rushed on before he could interrupt again. "I love you, Joseph Adam Jonas. And no matter what you say, you're stuck with me. No matter what you do I won't leave you. Because I love you too much to separate us. You know that? I Love You." I replaced my finger on his lips with mine. I repeated everything I had just said in the kiss. I had meant exactly what I had said, and I needed to prove it.
Then the door was thrown open.
Aly: Come ON Sara! I've called you 7 times! You're not getting out of your birthday treat by hiding with Joe!
I shook my head slightly that she wasn't even slightly embarrassed on what she had just bursted in on.
Aly: I WILL drag you out of here if you're not outside in TWO minutes.
And she left.
Joe: I supose I have to let you go now?
I reluctantly let go of the collar of his shirt as he pushed himself up. I propped myself up on my elbows. "Suppose we skip?"
Joe: Now, would you really want to disappoint your friends like that?
He had a point, so I got up too and fixed my hair and sweater before walking out of the room. "I wonder what they have planned for me?"
