Former co-workers, and good friends, "Lady" Esther Ford has asked me to post this as a tribute from her to Ms. Frances Steadman.

The song is "Be Ready When He Comes," which was written by Esther Ford, herself!

  • Hello Rowoches! Please, can you help me - who is the girl who sings in Mean Old World - starting with words - Nobody Knows the trouble...?

  • @dimomoda7: I've already answered your question, but to reiterate, Esther Ford is the one who sings the first verse of "Mean Old World."

  • @Rowoches Hi Rowoches! Thanks a lot! But in the pictures she looks some different, are you sure it's her? Francly, I fall in love how she sings, though I love all others too, but she sings some special I think. I watched as much info as I could, found some other names - but seems Esther Ford looks some different in pictures, I watched on her website too. Are you sure?

  • @dimomoda7: Yes, I'm sure it's her. In this particular picture, she's the one of the left. Her hair may make her look different, and she was also much younger on the picture above. On the album cover, with the song "Mean Old World," she's the one on the right, at the bottom.

  • Okay... words fail.

  • What do you mean?

  • Beautiful... I remember listening to this over a decade ago and being spellbound by it. Esther is great! And Frances needs no props... her voice and legacy speak for themselves. R.I.P. Frances -- one of the greatest gospel singers. Actually, one of the greatest singers without qualification of genre or style.

  • Simply awesome. Didn't know Lady Esther had such a rich lower range too. Beautiful. R.I.P. Mrs. Frances Steadman Turner

  • I meant I didn't find any words to say how impressive this is. I'm not in the habit of female groups, which seems to be a serious lack. For instance I didn't know the Stars of Faith just a few weeks ago; I think my feeling was - why did I miss them.

  • Also, if you want to know all the group members in this recording, they are Frances Steadman, Kitty Parham, Sadie Keyes, Esther Ford, and Mattie Harper.
