I purchased an Apogee Duet and the sound was unreal...VERY clear. I did however have a problem with "static" in the recording. The solid body aluminum style casing (almost identical to the new unibody macbook pro's) somehow conducts or can discharge a very slight amount of static electricity. I tried 7 different combinations of inputs and all 7 had the static.
I ended up with a Tascam US-144.. slightly less sound quality...but more sound CLARITY. Finally satisfied.
Hope it helps! Good luck.

Wow. And thanks. Must start looking for that second job!

Yes. Came from a Presonus Firestudio Tube (800 USD)--16 inputs. The difference was amazing. So much more headroom. More clarity. Less Latency. Better behavior at 96k. More silent, more portable, sleeker. Just better all around. The only thing i would add would be an Apogee Ensemble if i needed more i/o :p.

Gotta Ultralite for about the same price. It has eleventeen inputs. Hard to believe the Duet sounds so much better that it would be the better buy. Is this possible?

Juan look here, go finish getting your GED and come back with something worth talking about.
Sounds like you had a defective Duet or cable. There are no problems with static on a properly working unit.
You should have contacted your dealer or us about a replacement. Sorry to hear it didn't work out for you.

You don't know when to stop do you? You are more stupid than i thought.. Still, you can always make yourself some more aliases to back yourself up. Invent yourself a few imaginary friends while you are at it haha
