And the next game after Mario Party 6 is...well, Mario Party 7.

MP7 isn't as good as MP5 or MP6, but it's still much better than MP4 and MP8 (and do not go on a tangent about how great MP8 is because it isn't). They tried to expand on interaction with the boards and they did an okay job, but it's the other things they tried to expand on that kinda make it worse than the two previous installments.

First off, one of the new features, or rather a feature that's been...enhanced, for a lack of a better word, is the use of the Mic that was first used in MP6. There are a lot more Mic mini-games and there's even a mic space that can increase your coin total. But...where's the fun in just speaking into a microphone?

Another thing that they did that was kinda intelligent (but still annoying) was add an event called Bowser Time. Every five turns, Bowser comes and wreaks havoc on the board, be it opening his own shop (which steals your coins if you visit), altering the board or some other nuisance that affects progress. I'm guessing this was added because it's a little too easy to turn the tables in your favor if you're behind.

The last thing that they added, and I'll be showing this off later, is add an 8-Player mode. Basically, two people share one controller with one person using the analog stick and L and the other using the C-stick and R. This mode adds new mini-games and even allows more benefits from the board in certain areas or spaces.

Oh, and I almost forgot that they added new Orbs that are special for certain characters. For example, Mario and Luigi have an exclusive Fireball Orb that allows them to steal coins and Toad and Toadette have a Triple Mushroom Orb that allows them to use Mushrooms for three turns. Some of these are broken (Peach and Daisy's is extremely cheap), but it barely affects the game in the long run.

So, here's the first map on Mario Party 7, the Venice-themed board, Grand Canal.

Character:
Dry Bones

Wario (Hard)
Daisy (Hard)
Toad (Hard)

  • The course on mario party 8 sucks.The gameplay sucks.There are only 6 courses.And it doesn't have a ztar!!!

  • DAMN U KOOPA KID DAMN U BOWSER koopa kid looks so weird with bowser again.

  • what does peach and daisy's do anyways? havent played this in forever

  • I actually liked Mario Party 7 better than 5 or 6. The I didn't like the small size of the boards in the fifth one, and I liked the board themes and the refined Orb system than the sixth one.
