BBC's Zeinab Badawi talks to John Kennedy, the CEO of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry. He represents the international recording industry worldwide and is fighting for its survival.
In this second and final segment, he talks about combating piracy in the digital domain and is confronted on how independent artists can become successful through self-promotion on the Internet.
You don’t get to destroy the internet because it doesn’t fit your business model.
Fuck IFPI and fuck SOPA.

@1kydde2 I disagree somewhat, i think the genuine desire should come first to write and/or perform music and then think about the finance. I hate this mentality 'Oh i should earn more than a doctor because I WROTE A SONG!!!'

Call me crazy but, I agree with Kennedy. As a musician myself, it is hard to put your heart and soul into your music to have it stolen.

Why buy tracks from you're favourite artists, when you can get it for free online!? :)
Youtube down-loader is the best(IMO)
Albums really don't sell these days, that's why most Music "Artists" have allot of advert deals. They make up the revenue they loose from low music sales.

@oblivion234brown Where did you get that idea? Music is just one skilled occupation among many. 1000 years ago, if a medieval king wanted to hear some music, he would hire some musicians to play it. The Church paid for its music to be composed and sung. Furthermore, talent alone will get you nowhere. Musicians work hard (and spend a lot of money) to learn their craft.
